Virtual Information System using .NET technology for one of the key departments of the local Government.

The Client

One of the key departments of the local Government with departmental offices in every district of the state and other local bodies including Municipalities, Universities and Temples etc. The department plays an active role in prevention of waste and proper utilization of resources by identifying the misdirected channels of expenditure and thus helping prevention and wastage of Government money.

The Challenge

To achieve better audit reporting system with an objective of bringing all the audit objections institution wise to the notice of the District authorities and Head Office for better financial management and audit controls.

The department wanted to automate its operations in a workflow manner and facilitate generation of reports from the lowest level to highest level from Institutions to Zonal Offices and also at Head Office.

The Solution

While taking advantage of the functional knowledge from the existing application, the design capitalizes on the advanced features of the .Net platform.

The application will run on a Windows 2000 advanced server operating system having the .Net framework installed on it. The .Net components will run on this server.

The user interface is developed using WinForms which communicate with a set of .Net components which host the business logic in them. This tier can be used for hosting Web Services if required in future. The business logic components communicate with a set of .Net components which will implement the data access on SQL server 2000.

The methodology is guided by Temple's processes which ensure that the customer expectations in terms of Scope, Cost, Time and Quality are met.
